Efficient leadership saves firms during times of crisis and uncertainty, which they face. Due to the circumstances that have changed over the last several years—from COVID-19 to the energy crisis, the conflict in Ukraine, and other factors—the PSP Cargo Group has faced significant development challenges. “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity!”- This is a very current quote by Albert Einstein. It guides the management of PSP Cargo Group in overcoming the obstacles that arise. Kinga Madarasan, the company’s CEO, explains how the company still has managed to grow during a difficult period.
The last few years have brought significant challenges for the survival and development of the business environment by presenting many unknown situations. How did PSP Cargo Group fare?
“In the middle of difficulties lies opportunity!” This quote by Albert Einstein serves our company’s motto, and it describes properly the situation that has developed over the last three years. As a corporation, we attempted to overcome this period by taking into account the economic, social, and human environment affected by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the energy crisis, and the war in Ukraine. Over the last three years, we have focused on strengthening the team spirit, motivating and encouraging colleagues, and being able to carry out our work despite the stressful conditions, uncertainties, and our fear of the unknown.
How did you overcome the difficulties?
Communication and informal discussion components are frequently included in operational meetings and action plan reviews with operational managers. In these meetings, we had the opportunity to share our worries as well as our confidence in our ability to overcome the problems we must confront. We agreed that it is critical to be highly analytical and rigorous and to try to do our jobs in small steps, each on his part of the process. We practiced using numerous scenarios, including unanticipated circumstances such as when our customers change their orders or when an unforeseen problem arises during the execution procedures. Over the last three years, we have learned together how to handle unpredictable events and minimize their effects.
We have held teambuilding over the past year to improve our ability to communicate, foster a sense of unity among us, and better understand how each of us responds to crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, war, or the impending inflation that will be challenging to pay for with our monthly income.
We made an effort to pinpoint the advantages of managing processes under challenging, unpredictable circumstances.
